...My Blonde Jesus...
My Blonde Jesus was concieved when I came home from
dropping off my youngest son at school and found this
postcard of Jesus had been left in the handle of my front
door. This image of Jesus as a golden haired white man
provoked a thought process that made me question the
impact of Imagery and Iconography upon our values and
beliefs. My initial instinct was to try and photograph as many
people as I could who would be willing to pose
holding this postcard, the idea being to try and bridge the
diversity gap not by changing the representation of Jesus
as a man, for I'm sure none of us walking the earth today
have any idea what jesus really looked like, but by presenting
this unchangable image of Jesus with as wide of a variety of
people and situations as I could.
As this work progresses I'm fairly certain that I will have
discovered a much deeper chain of thought, but it hasn't
quite revealed itself to me yet. I am however, having
a
great time engaging friends and strangers in being part of
this project.
My heart-felt thanks to all of you who are a part of this project.
